How ANAMAY Started
Since her youth, our founder Ms. Phasukar Phan has visited the Cambodian countryside for Chengmeng, a Chinese tradition of cleaning ancestors’ graves to remember and honor them. Every year, she witnessed saddening conditions: no toilets, unclean children, and minimal hygiene. These experiences inspired her to set out to be the change she wanted to see.
ANAMAY began in her kitchen, where she made a mess as she clumsily attempted to create her first bars of soap, even wearing swimming goggles to protect her eyes from the fumes. She hoped that her homemade soap bars could help protect even one family from harmful germs and disease. Through this, ANAMAY grew into something larger. She created a sustainable business model that aims to support the local economy while still driving positive change. Soon, Ms. Phasukar Phan and her passionate team developed ANAMAY’s three iconic soaps and began selling them to local hotels and hospitals. Today, all profits are redirected toward creating greater change in the provinces by building toilets and handwashing stations.
What Keeps Us Motivated
What keeps us motivated is knowing that ANAMAY can make a difference in people’s lives in more than one way. Since the beginning, ANAMAY has given women the opportunity to earn an income by supporting the production of our handmade soap. We are happy to be able to support them not only through work, but also by helping them gain practical skills and knowledge that they can carry with them into the future to support themselves and their families.
Our Partners
ANAMAY supplies handmade soaps to hospitality and healthcare service partners, beginning with a hotel and a hospital. These partnerships allow our soaps to become part of daily guest and patient experiences, offering a gentle and thoughtfully made hygiene product in places where cleanliness and care matter most. Through this approach, ANAMAY continues to build meaningful relationships with service providers while introducing its products in a practical and purposeful way.
The Next Chapter
Our next step is to grow ANAMAY into a sustainable business that can create a greater impact. Our goal is to allocate 100% of our profits to NGOs and community partners that help build proper toilets and sanitation facilities for people living in rural communities in Cambodia, allowing every step forward for the business to also become a step forward for the communities we hope to support.
